The electrical power industry has been successfully using Dow Corning 3099 HVIC compound to protect insulators against pollution-induced flashover. Dow Corning 3099 HVIC compound is a grease-like compound specifically designed to give porcelain or glass insulators long-term resistance to water filming and flashover. Formulation adjustments have been incorporated into Dow Corning 3099 to extend the normal silicone electrical grease service life by maximising performance with respect to corona induced stress, UV, water and particulate pollution.
